Sustainability strategy refresh: Shared ownership across corporate and mine sites at New Gold
Tidal partnered with New Gold to collaboratively design a refreshed sustainability strategy that places environmental stewardship, community engagement, and Indigenous rights at the heart of their operations, while ensuring the strategy is deliverable and achievable. Starting with an in-depth understanding of New Gold’s existing sustainability efforts, Tidal worked closely with senior leadership and site teams to ensure the new strategy was both fit for purpose and aligned with industry-leading practices.
The process began with one-on-one interviews to define business value and boundaries, followed by workshops that engaged key stakeholders across New Gold. This approach ensured shared ownership of the strategy, from site-level teams to corporate and senior leadership, fostering alignment and commitment at all levels. The result was a strategic framework designed to align sustainability goals across different levels of the organization, ensuring shared commitment and accountability.
Tidal’s blend of corporate strategy expertise and facilitation helped push New Gold to create an actionable, implementable strategy that the organization truly values—because they designed it themselves. New Gold now fully owns the sustainability strategy and is confidently implementing it across the organization, having built the internal capacity needed for long-term success.
“Tidal enabled us to collaboratively design a Sustainability strategy that has shared ownership across sites, corporate and our leadership. The Tidal team’s blend of corporate strategy and facilitation pushed us to have an implementable strategy that we love, because we designed it.”
